GALLOWAY, NJ (Feb. 13, 2025) – Freshman guard
Hope Goodwine scored a game-high 18 points, including a pair of clutch foul shots with 14 seconds remaining, to lift the Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball team over Stockton University, 52-49, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Thursday night.
The Scarlet Raptors' victory snapped an 11-game winning streak in the series by Stockton and was Rutgers-Camden's first win over the Ospreys since a 76-70 contest in Galloway on Nov. 28, 2018.
Rutgers-Camden improved to 9-14 overall and 5-11 in the NJAC, while Stockton fell to 10-13 and 6-10 in the conference.
Stockton took a 42-39 lead into the final 10 minutes and led by as many as four points (46-42) early in the fourth quarter before Rutgers-Camden rallied to tie the game, 46-46, on a layup by Goodwine. After Stockton regained a two-point lead, a jumper by senior guard
Rahzirah Blocker tied the game at 48-48 with 3:54 remaining.
Stockton finally broke that tie with 55 seconds remaining on a foul shot by sophomore guard Katie Rausch, but Blocker hit a pair of foul shots 10 seconds later, giving the Scarlet Raptors the lead for good. A missed three-point attempt by Raisch with 18 seconds left was rebounded by Goodwine. After being fouled, she hit both of her foul shots with 14 seconds left. Rausch had a late-gasp three-point attempt off the mark, which was rebounded by Raptor graduate forward
Aiya Underwood with three seconds remaining to nail down the win.
Goodwine finished with game highs of 18 points and five steals, while adding four rebounds and three assists. Freshman forward
Courtney Edmundo added 15 points and Blocker netted 11, while senior guard
