CAMDEN, NJ (Feb. 15, 2025) – The William Paterson women's basketball team established a 15-point lead after one quarter and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 71-58, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday on Senior Day.
Prior to the game, the Scarlet Raptors' four departing players were celebrated in a brief ceremony as Rutgers-Camden honored four-year letterwinner
Rahzirah Blocker and a trio of players spending one season with the program in
Lanae Johnson-Kleinpeter, Taylor Hinson and
Aiya Underwood.

With its fourth straight win, William Paterson improved to 17-7 overall and 13-4 in the NJAC. Rutgers-Camden fell to 9-15 overall and 5-12 in conference play.
Paterson has won its last four games against the Scarlet Raptors and leads the all-time series, 61-6.
The teams traded the early advantage twice, with the Pioneers taking the lead for good at 6-4 on the second straight three-pointer by senior guard Victoria Palladino. That trey sparked a 12-point run for Paterson, which led, 15-4, with 4:15 left in the first quarter.
The Pioneers led, 25-10, after one quarter, 45-29 at the half and 68-40 at the end of three quarters before Rutgers-Camden outscored Paterson, 18-3, in the final frame to close the gap. Paterson's biggest lead was 30 points (64-34) late in the third quarter.
Paterson placed four placers in double figures scoring, led by graduate student guard Brianna Smith. Junior forward Patty Walsh, the current NJAC Player of the Week, added 14 points, while Palladino and junior forward Renee Wells both scored 12. Palladino also collected game-high totals of six assists and four steals.
Rutgers-Camden received 19 points from Blocker, while freshman guard
Hope Goodwine netted 11. Freshman forward
Courtney Edmundo, the current NJAC Rookie of the Week, added nine points and tied a pair of Paterson players for game-high honors with six rebounds.
The Pioneers shot 30-for-53 (56.6 percent) from the floor and the Raptors went 20-for-50 (40.0). From the line, William Paterson went 5-for-8 (62.5) while Rutgers-Camden was 15-for-25 (60.0).
William Paterson held a 31-29 edge off the boards.
Rutgers-Camden closes its season on Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. NJAC game at New Jersey City University.
