Arianna Williams (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) scored four points to spark a 13-point first-half run, helping the Rutgers-Newark women's basketball team open up a big lead and coast to a 65-34 victory in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
The Scarlet Raiders improve to 8-8 overall and 4-6 in the NJAC, snapping a four-game losing streak.
The Scarlet Raptors fall to 4-11 overall and 0-10 in the NJAC.
The Scarlet Raiders, who beat the Raptors 71-52 on Jan. 6 in Camden, have won 13 of the last 14 games between the sister schools and holds a 33-25 advantage in the all-time series.
Rutgers-Newark led, 7-5, when Williams hit a three-pointer with 14:46 remaining in the half, got fouled and tacked on a free throw. Those four points sparked a 13-point run and a 22-1 spurt that put the Scarlet Raiders ahead, 29-6. Newark held Camden without a field goal for 13:05 in the opening half, during which time the host team outscored the visitors, 27-2. The run started after a three-pointer by senior guard

Michelle Onu (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East). The Raptors' lone two points in that Newark run came on foul shots by sophomore guard
Krystle Cook (Philadelphia, PA/Girard College) and junior center/forward
Tanjae Lewis (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling).
By halftime, Rutgers-Newark held a 34-14 lead and the Scarlet Raiders stretched their advantage to as many as 33 points (65-32) before the final score.

Jade Howard (Sicklerville, NJ/St. Joseph's-Hammonton) paced the winners with a game-high 13 points, while junior center
Sharee Gordon (Newark, NJ/University) canned 12. Williams and senior forward
Jasmine Daniels (Lodi, NJ/Lodi) contributed eight points apiece.
Howard led the Scarlet Raiders with eight rebounds, while junior guard
Courtney Woodard (Plainfield, NJ/Plainfield) contributed six points and game-high totals of six steals and five assists.
Onu and Hooks paced Rutgers-Camden with six points apiece, with Hooks setting a career high in the process. Onu and junior guard/forward
Irene Grimanis (Brooklawn, NJ/Gloucester) tied for game-high rebounding honors with 13 apiece.
Rutgers-Camden held a 46-41 edge off the boards, but the Scarlet Raptors shot only 20.4 percent (11-for-54) from the floor, while the Scarlet Raiders were 24-for-60 (40.0).
Both teams return to conference action Saturday. Rutgers-Camden hosts Ramapo College at 1 p.m., while Rutgers-Newark visits Montclair State University for a 3 p.m. contest.
