Box Score GALLOWAY, N.J. (Dec. 9, 2015) – The Stockton University women's basketball team went on a 24-point run midway through the third quarter to break open a tie game and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 83-58, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
With the score tied at 31-31 early in the second half, sophomore forward
Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) hit three foul shots to put the Ospreys ahead for good and junior guard
Taylor Christina (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional) added back-to-back three-pointers to stretch the run to nine points.
Rutgers-Camden was held scoreless for an 8:11 span in the third quarter while being out-scored, 32-7, in the frame. Stockton increased its 31-29 halftime edge to 63-36 entering the fourth quarter.
Stockton improves to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-4 and 1-3. The Ospreys have won their last 26 games against Rutgers-Camden to take a 56-18 lead in the all-time series. The last Scarlet Raptor win came in the ECAC semifinals on March 2, 2002 by a 61-58 score.
Rutgers-Camden had the advantage in the early going, taking a 15-8 lead after one quarter as senior guard/forward
Kamari Talley (Camden, NJ/Creative Arts) netted eight points and added six rebounds.
The Scarlet Raptors made it a 19-12 game before Stockton came storming back, rattling off 14 points in a row to take the lead, 26-19. Sophmore guard
Lea Mendolla (Nutley, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic) led the charge with 10 of the Ospreys' first 19 points. A jumper by Talley, a trey by freshman guard
Gabby Greene (Howell, NJ/Howell) and another trey by freshman guard
Ariel Robinson (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic), however, put the Raptors back on top, 27-26, before Stockton regained the lead, 28-27, on a layup by junior guard
Shaqui Coppage (Salem, NJ/Salem). The Ospreys stretched their lead to 31-27 before Greene hit a three-pointer right before halftime to cut the gap to 31-29.
By halftime, Talley already had notched her fifth straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. She opened the second half with a jumper to tie the game at 31-31 before Stockton went on its long run.
Williams finished with a double-double of 18 points and 18 rebounds for the Ospreys, while Coppage and Mendolla notched 12 points apiece.
Talley had game-high totals of 24 points and 19 rebounds, tying her Raptor career rebounding high set at Kean University on Saturday. She also had a game-high five steals to tie her Rutgers-Camden high, which was accomplished three times previously.

Michelle Obasi (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Greene scored 11 points. Sophomore guard/forward
Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) notched seven rebounds, four points, two steals and a game-high seven assists, one shy of her career high.
Freshman guard
Ariel Robinson (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) scored five points, grabbed four rebounds and added a career-tying three assists for Rutgers-Camden.
Rutgers-Camden closes out its pre-holiday schedule with a pair of home games this weekend. The Raptors host William Paterson University in a 1 p.m. NJAC game Saturday. They host John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Sunday in a 3 p.m. non-conference game.
