CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 13, 2016) – The young Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team knew it would have a rugged test in its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener here Tuesday. After all, the Scarlet Raptors had the unenviable task of trying to do what no team in NJAC history has ever done – defeat The College of New Jersey.
The Lions swept the Raptors, 9-0, as they raised their record to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the NJAC. TCNJ, which is aiming for an amazing 34th consecutive conference title this season, has won every NJAC match it has played in its history, a string which now stands at 169 conference victories.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-2 early in the season, including 0-1 in NJAC play. The Raptors return to action Saturday when they host Stockton University in NJAC action at 2 p.m. That match was rescheduled from the original Sept. 3 date.
Rutgers-Camden captured one game on the day as freshman
Danielle Lemma (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at third singles. The Raptors were swept 6-0, 6-0 at the other five singles sports, including first singles with freshman
Annalise Kipp (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford), second with senior
Christine Abacan (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood), fourth singles with sophomore
Ashley Flores (Camden, NJ/Moorestown Friends), fifth singles with senior
Millie Kipp (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford)) and sixth singles with sophomore
Bryana Foxx-Parham (Richmond, VA/Armstrong).
TCNJ swept all three doubles matches, 8-0.
Annalise Kipp and Abacan combined at first doubles, Lemma and Flores played second doubles and the third doubles team was
Millie Kipp and Foxx-Parham.
