ABINGTON, Penn. (March 25, 2017) – The Penn State University-Abington men's tennis team won four of the six singles matches to pull out a 5-4 victory over Rutgers University-Camden here Saturday.
 
Freshman Khoa Ly (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) was the lone double winner for the Scarlet Raptors collecting a 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 victory at sixth singles and combining with junior Jake Collette-Nippins (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) to notch an 8-5 victory at third doubles.
 
The Scarlet Raptors (1-3) also won second doubles, 8-3, behind the combination of seniors Anthony Gendin (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) and Ryan Christopher (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township).
 
Rutgers-Camden's other victory came at fourth singles, as freshman Jason Mehta (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) notched a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory. Mehta has won three of his four matches at fourth singles during his rookie season.
 
Mehta and fellow freshman Jair Norman (Sicklerville, NJ/Williamstown) dropped an 8-1 decision at first doubles.
 
The Nittany Lions beat the Scarlet Raptors at the first three singles spots, with Gendin dropping a 6-2, 6-0 decision at first singles, Christopher losing at second singles, 6-3, 6-2, and Norman losing 6-0, 7-5 at third singles. At fifth singles, Collette-Nippins lost to his Penn State-Abington opponent, 6-1, 6-1.
 
Rutgers-Camden hosts the College of Staten Island on Sunday, April 2, at 12 p.m.
