In the first game, Castelli
hurled a three-hit shutout, walking only one and striking out three as she raised her record to 15-2. She allowed only singles by Goodspeed to open the game, to
Rachel Edwards (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) in the second inning and to Garcia in the sixth inning.
Rutgers-Camden loaded the bases in the sixth with two outs before Castelli worked out of the jam with a line out to right field.
Paterson scored the only run it needed in the first inning after senior shortstop
Rachel Wasilak (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) collected a two-out double. She scored on a triple by sophomore third baseman
Christine Griffith (Upper Saddle River, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional). A pair of singles and a stolen base gave the Pioneers an insurance run in the third inning, with freshman designated player
Vanessa Archibold (Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) driving home the run.
Raptor sophomore
Jessica Thompson (Pedricktown, NJ/Penns Grove) took the loss, hurling a five-hitter and allowing two earned runs. Thompson (8-14) walked three and struck out one.

Podmajerski (9-6) allowed only five hits in her outing, while walking two and striking out nine. The Raptors' lone extra-base hit of the day was a double by junior second baseman
Mariah Hans (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights). Hans went 2-for-3 in the game as the only Raptor on the day to have a multi-hit game. Goodspeed and Edwards added singles to collect a hit in each game of the doubleheader, while junior leftfielder
Gabrielle Castellini (Millville, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) had the other Raptor hit.
Griffith was the big hitter in the Pioneers' lineup, going 2-for-3 with one run and four RBIs. She had a two-run home run in Paterson's three-run first inning, moments after Wasilak singled home a run. Griffith added a two-run single in the fifth inning.
Raptor sophomore
Dannie Dinsfriend (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took the loss, dropping her record to 1-4. She worked five innings, allowing six hits, two walks and six runs, one of them unearned.
