COLLEGEVILLE, Penn. (March 17, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team scheduled only two matches during the spring season after playing the bulk of its action in the fall, and after a cancelled match last Sunday against Yeshiva University, the Scarlet Raptors saw their only action of the semester here Saturday.
Facing a team that already had five March matches under its belt, the Scarlet Raptors were swept by Ursinus College, 9-0. Rutgers Camden, which hadn't played a match since Oct. 22 against Penn State-Brandywine, closes its 2017-18 season with a 4-8 record.
The Scarlet Raptors, who had only four players at Saturday's match, lost three points right off the bat as they forfeited the fifth and sixth singles spots, as well as the third doubles competition.
At first singles, sophomore
Annalise Kipp (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford), pictured above, dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision and freshman
Jenna O'Lexy (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) lost at second singles, 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore
Danielle Lemma (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) and freshman
Abby Banner (Egg Harbor City, NJ/Cedar Creek) both lost 6-1, 6-1 matches at third and fourth singles, respectively.
Kipp and Lemma were defeated at first doubles, 8-1, while O'Lexy and Banner dropped an 8-3 decision at second doubles.
