Pomona, NJ (April 17, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's lacrosse team put a strong fight against the Ospreys of Stockton University this afternoon in Pomona. Despite a very evenly played second half, a strong first half performance by the Ospreys was enough to see them defeat the Scarlet Raptors by a final score of 17-8.
It was Rutgers-Camden who opened the scoring this afternoon, as senior midfielder
Jessica Mayer (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson) fired home her 18
th goal on the season to take a 1-0 lead. Stockton responded quickly in energetic fashion, registering the next 7 goals of the game in a span of just 8 minutes. Senior midfielder
Nicole Curry (Maple Shade, NJ, Camden Catholic) and senior attack
Natalie DiCarlo (Sicklerville, NJ, Gloucester Catholic) closed out the scoring in the first half for the Scarlet Raptors.
DiCarlo registered the assist on
Curry's 6
th goal of the season.
The second half started just as the first did, with the Raptors opening up the scoring through 2 more goals by
Mayer. Both of those goals were assisted by junior defender
Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ, Camden Catholic). Sophomore midfielder
Meghan Giordano (Pennsauken, NJ, Camden Catholic) then tallied her 5
th goal of the year to break the Stockton lead in half at 12-6. The Ospreys responded with 3 straight goals just as Rutgers-Camden did, before
Curry scored slotted home her 2
nd goal of the game. Senior midfielder
Sarah Boucot (Sicklerville, NJ, Paul VI) closed out the scoring for Rutgers-Camden on the afternoon with her 2
nd goal of the year.

Brittany Watson (Millville, NJ, Millville) received the loss in the Raptors' cage, making 12 saves on the day. Her record falls to 2-5 on the season.
Sophomore defender
Kacie Walton (Columbus, NJ, Northern Burlington) led in 2 categories for the Scarlet Raptors, contributing a team-high 4 caused turnovers and 4 gound balls.
Mayer recorded a hat trick for the Raptors, while
Racobaldo had a game-high 3 assists and provided 5 draw controls.
Giordano added 4 draw controls and 3 ground balls.
The Scarlet Raptors now sit at 2-7 (0-3 NJAC) on the season, while Stockton jumps to 9-5 (2-2 NJAC).
Rutgers-Camden returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference play this Thursday, April 19, when they host Kean University at 4pm.
