Rowan lacrosse team tops Scarlet Raptors in NJAC game

CAMDEN, N.J. (April 19, 2022) – Senior attack Elise Cohan scored five goals and four teammates added three apiece as the Rowan University women's lacrosse team defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 20-3, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on a cold, windy day here Tuesday.

The Profs improve to 6-7 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 2-9 and 0-4.

The Profs are 11-0 in their all-time series against the Scarlet Raptors.

Cohan scored two of the first four goals as Rowan took a 4-0 lead 5:48 into the first quarter. Rutgers-Camden, however, answered within a span of 26 seconds as sophomore midfielder Isabella Tamburrino scored, assisted by senior midfielder Jazmin Torres with 7:41 remaining in the quarter. Senior attack Rachel Haigh tallied 26 seconds later, assisted by freshman midfielder Ciara Butler.

Rowan finished out the quarter with the last four goals and scored all eight goals in the second quarter to hold a 16-2 halftime lead. The Profs scored the first four goals of the second half to make it 20-2 before senior midfielder Claire Gailliout tallied a final unassisted goal. It was her 26th goal of the year and the 78th of her stellar career.

In addition to Cohan, Rowan received three goals apiece from senior attack Ashley Lechliter, junior attack Jamie Cutrera, freshman attack Molly Green and senior midfielder Julianna Corson. Green and Corson also added one assist apiece.
