Camden, NJ (April 23, 2018) – It was a tale of two halves here in Camden today, as the Rutgers University-Camden women's lacrosse team battled in a tough fight versus Immaculata University. The Mighty Macs exploded for a big second half to take down the Scarlet Raptors by a final score of 19-13.
                                                                                                                                                      
The Scarlet Raptors scored 5 of the 6 opening goals in the first 8:30 of play, which included a hat trick by senior midfielder 
Nicole Martin (Delran, NJ, Delran) in a span of 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Her hat trick is the quickest in program history.
 
Senior midfielder 
Sarah Boucot (Sicklerville, NJ, Paul VI) and junior defender 
Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ, Camden Catholic) assisted on 2 of 
Martin's 3 opening goals. Senior midfielder 
Nicole Curry (Maple Shade, NJ, Camden Catholic) made it a 4-1 lead off another 
Racobaldo assist, before 
Racobaldo added the Raptors' 5
th goal at the 21:17 mark. Senior attack 
Natalie DiCarlo (Sicklerville, NJ, Gloucester Catholic) collected the assist on that goal. Immaculata would cut the Scarlet Raptors' lead to 5-3, but another 3 tallies by Rutgers-Camden increased their lead back to 5. Those 3 goals were fueled by 
Racobaldo, 
Martin, and sophomore midfielder 
Meghan Giordano (Pennsauken, NJ, Camden Catholic). Senior midfielder 
Jessica Mayer (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson) collected an assist on 
Racobaldo's goal.
 
Exchanges of goals before the halftime horn blew saw Immaculata cut the Scarlet Raptor lead to 10-8, as 
Racobaldo added 2 goals. 
DiCarlo and 
Giordano assisted on those tallies.
 
The Mighty Macs started the second half just as Rutgers-Camden started the first, outscoring the Raptors 4-1 in the opening 8:30. 
Giordano and 
Martin fired home goals to keep the game level at 12-12 with 18:27 left to play; however, it was the last 14 minutes where Immaculata gained their separation. 
Racobaldo would slot home her 5
th goal of the game to cut the lead to 13-16, but 3 more insurance goals were too much for the Rutgers-Camden to regain their lead. The game ended 19-13, with 
Martin and 
Racobaldo both registering 5 goals on the day. 
Giordano finished with 2 and 
Curry collected 1.
 
Freshman goalkeeper 
Brittany Watson (Millville, NJ, Millville) received the loss in the Raptors' cage, making 10 saves on the day. She also had a team-high 8 ground balls on the day. With the loss, her record falls to 2-7 on the season.
 
Sophomore defender 
Kacie Walton (Columbus, NJ, Northern Burlington) led in caused turnovers for the Scarlet Raptors, contributing a team-high 4. 
Racobaldo had a team-high 7 draw controls. 
Martin added 3 caused turnovers, while 
Giordano and 
Mayer both provided 2.
 
The Scarlet Raptors' record on the season drops to 2-9 (0-3 NJAC) on the season, while Immaculata climbs to 12-3.
 
Rutgers-Camden returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference play tomorrow, Tuesday April 24, when they travel to Rowan University for a 7pm start.
