NICHOLASVILLE, Kentucky (May 16, 2019) – The third round wasn't kind to the Rutgers University-Camden golf team at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships here Thursday.
The Scarlet Raptors shot a 318, the worst round of the remaining 18 teams vying for a national title, and stumbled from 12th place to 15th place with one more round remaining at the Keene Trace Golf Club Friday.
Rutgers-Camden has a three-round total of 929, three strokes behind 14th-place North Carolina Wesleyan and two strokes ahead of 16th-place Redlands. Illinois Wesleyan and Huntingdon College are tied for the lead with 880 totals.
Senior
Richard Stolz carded an even-par 72 to pace the Scarlet Raptors, while junior
Andrew Gutierrez, pictured above, shot a 76. Senior
Cory Meyer and junior
Sean Hughes both shot rounds of 85, while junior
Sean Sigall carded an 86.
Through three rounds, Stolz (75-77-72--224) is tied for 22nd place among the final 96 players in the finals. Gutierrez (74-82-76—232) is tied for 59th, while Meyer (74-79-85—238) is tied for 79th. Hughes (77-77-85—239) is tied for 83rd and Sigall (84-78-86—248) is tied for 92nd.
A total of 216 golfers started the NCAA Championships.
