Over the next several weeks, Rutgers University-Camden will be highlighting senior student-athletes who were denied their final athletic season when the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled their spring semester competition. In their own words, departing athletes will discuss their experiences at Rutgers-Camden.
Â
The feature will be posted every Monday and Thursday.
Â
Today's focus is on
Wilson Seville, a three-year member of Scarlet Raptors' baseball program after playing his freshman season with Rowan College at Burlington County. The outfielder is a Nursing major who earned numerous academic honors during his career at Rutgers-Camden.
Â
1. What is your favorite memory being a student-athlete at Rutgers-Camden?
Going on a five-game winning streak after our first game, dominating teams before our season was cut short.
2. What will you miss the most? Â
Â
Practicing on the turf in the city of Camden with the Philly skyline in the background, Camden residents doing wheelies on quads and dirt bikes up and down the same street every day, locals standing to watch practice, and the subway roaring as it passes by overhead on the Ben Franklin. There is nothing like it.
3. What is the best advice you have received from your coach?
Â
Always be positive and stay hungry.
 4. What is next for you? What are your future plans and goals?
Â
Finish my degree. Obtain a nursing license. Work and go back to school for another 3-4 more years.
5. Any special thanks, acknowledgements, or final words?
Â
First and foremost, I would like to thank my parents because I would have not made it this far without them. I would like to thank my teammates, Coach Kulik, Coach Fish, Coach Lee, and Coach Nocito for making baseball fun again. Rutgers Camden Baseball is going to be an exciting team to watch. One Percent Better Every Day.
