CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 4, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team rattled off the last three points of the match, breaking a 22-22 tie in the third set, and swept Rutgers University-Newark, 3-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
The victory gave eighth-year Head Coach
David Gurst his 100th career win with the Scarlet Raptors. He is the winningest coach in program history, 55 victories more than any other coach.
The Scarlet Raptors won by scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-22 to raise their record to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC. Newark falls to 0-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
In the opening set, the Raptors broke a 5-5 tie, taking the lead for good on a kill by sophomore middle hitter/right side
Kaitlyn Parrish. They wrapped up the 25-12 win on a kill by junior outside hitter/right side
Erica Nebrich.
In the Scarlet Raptors' 25-15 victory in the second set, Rutgers-Camden scored four straight points to break a 4-4 tie and take the lead for good. Two of those points came on a kill by junior middle hitter/outside hitter
Isabella Choice and an ace by freshman libero/defensive specialist
Bella Craig.
The third set was tight all the way, with Newark holding a 19-17 lead before an attack error by the Scarlet Raiders and a kill by Choice knotted the score at 19-19. Rutgers-Camden scored the next three points on kills by Nebrich and Choice, sandwiched around a Newark attack error, but the Scarlet Raiders fought back to a 22-22 deadlock. Rutgers-Camden closed out the match with a kill by Nebrich, a Newark ball-handling error and an ace by Choice.
Choice finished with 11 kills, five aces and a .500 hitting percentage. Nebrich also had 11 kills, while adding seven digs.
Parrish notched four kills and four blocks, including two solo blocks.

Morgan Fox collected 14 digs, while senior setter
Brinn Hassan notched 27 assists, three kills and five digs.

Haley Novak had six digs and three aces, while freshman defensive specialist/outside hitter
Ciera McCrae had two kills and three block assists.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Sunday when they entertain Alvernia University and Brooklyn College in a tri-match.
