Fox reaches 1,300 career digs, but Cabrini sweeps Raptors

RADNOR, Penn. (Sept. 29, 2022) – The Cabrini University volleyball team received 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage from graduate student Hannah Dalton, an outside hitter, as it swept past Rutgers University-Camden, 3-0, in a non-conference match here Thursday night.

Cabrini won by scores 25-13, 25-20 and 25-15.

The loss drops the Scarlet Raptors to 6-8. The Cavaliers improve to 8-7 with their third straight win.

In the first set, the Cavaliers grabbed the lead at 2-1 on a kill by grad student and outside hitter Hannah Dalton and steadily opened up the set from there. The clinching point came on a service ace from grad student libero Gina Custer.

The Scarlet Raptors made it closer in the second set, rallying from a 19-12 deficit to close the gap to 23-20 on a kill by freshman defensive specialist/outside hitter Ciera McCrae, but the Cavaliers closed out that set with a pair of kills.

Cabrini took the lead for good in third set, 3-2, on a kill by junior middle blocker Lilyanna Baynum. The Cavaliers continued their run until it was a 9-2 score and increased that gap to 10 points at 15-5. They led by as many as 12 points late in the set (22-10) on the way to their sweep.

Juniors Erica Nebrich and Isabella Choice had six and four kills, respectively, for the Scarlet Raptors, while McCrae notched 13 assists.

Seniors Morgan Fox and Haley Novak led the way with seven and five digs, respectively, while freshman Bella Craig added four. Fox, who is third on the program's career list for digs, reached an even 1,300 digs for her career with her seven against Cabrini. She also had two assists and one service ace.

The Scarlet Raptors return to action Tuesday when they host Rutgers University-Newark in a 7 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference match.
