NJAC names Hilt Women's Field Athlete of the Week

CAMDEN, N.J. (April 3, 2023) – Rutgers University-Camden senior Emily Hilt has had a stellar career with the Rutgers University-Camden indoor and outdoor track and field programs and she added another honor here Monday.

Hilt was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week for Women's Outdoor Track and Field after another incredible performance over the weekend. On Saturday, Hilt finished first of 33 athletes in the hammer throw at Widener University's Danny Curran Invitational. Her throw of 54.29 meters broke her own program record of 52.42 meters, set last May when she won the hammer title at the ECAC Championships.

Hilt's performance also earned her honors as Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week, the second time she has captured that honor during the 2022-23 scholastic year. She also won it on Feb. 6 during indoor track season.

Hilt holds five program records at Rutgers-Camden. In addition to her hammer mark, she also holds the Scarlet Raptors' outdoor records in the shot put (13.03 meters) and the discus (37.49 meters). She holds the indoor program marks in the shot put (13.01 meters) and the weight throw (16.60 meters).

Hilt earned NJAC Second Team honors in the weight throw during the 2022-23 indoor season and was NJAC Second Team in both the shot put and the weight throw during the 2021-22 indoor campaign. She captured NJAC First Team honors in the shot put during the 2019-20 season (the 2020-21 season was cancelled by the pandemic) and also added NJAC Honorable Mention in the weight throw. She also won the ECAC weight throw title and was the ECAC runner-up in the shot put that season.

During outdoor track competition, she captured ECAC titles in the hammer, the shot put and the discus during the 2022 season on her way to reaching the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the hammer. She also earned NJAC First Team honors in the hammer and NJAC Second Team in the shot put. At the 2021 NJAC outdoor championships, she captured Second Team honors in the discus and NJAC Honorable Mention in both the hammer and the shot put.

Hilt has captured NJAC Field Athlete of the Week five times over her career and has been a 15-time Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week.

Prior to attending Rutgers-Camden, Hilt was an All-American with Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC).

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Hilt also is a three-time NJAC Academic Honorable Mention honoree, a Dean's List student and a seven-time member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
