Box Score LANCASTER, Penn. – The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team raced to a 44-26 halftime lead and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 88-41, here Saturday in the season opener for both teams at Franklin & Marshall College's Terry Greene Memorial Tournament.
The Scarlet Raptors will play in the consolation game Sunday at 1:30 p.m. against Penn State-Berks. The Nittany Lions lost their opening-day tournament game against host Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday by an 86-53 score.
Franklin & Marshall will host Elizabethtown in the championship game at 3:30 p.m.
The Blue Jays placed four players in double figures, led by sophomore guard
Rachel Forian (York, PA/York Catholic), who scored 21 points. Senior forward/guard
Taylor Kreider (Willow Street, PA/Solanco) notched a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds, while senior guard
Kendra Beittel (Manheim, PA/Hempfield) scored 12 points and freshman forward
Emily Martin (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) added 11.
Elizabethtown shot 50 percent (31-for-62) from the floor, including 7-for-22 (31.8) from three-point range. The Blue Jays also held a 41-27 advantage off the boards and forced 33 Rutgers-Camden turnovers.
The Scarlet Raptors received 14 points from junior guard
Alex Gravinese (Audubon, NJ/Audubon). Junior center/forward
Tanjae Lewis (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) collected nine points, six rebounds and two blocked shots, while sophomore forward
Michelle Onu (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) had six points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Rutgers-Camden shot 32 percent (16-for-50) from the floor.
