Alwan lifts Ospreys past Raptors

Box Score CAMDEN, N.J. – Senior forward Lauren Alwan (Winslow, NJ/Timber Creek) collected a double-double with game-high totals of 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Richard Stockton College women's basketball team over Rutgers University-Camden, 68-53, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.

The Ospreys improve to 10-13 overall and 7-9 in the NJAC, snapping a three-game losing streak.

The Scarlet Raptors fall to 4-17 overall and 0-16 in the conference with their seventh straight loss.

Richard Stockton has won 23 straight games against Rutgers-Camden and leads the all-time series, 52-18.

With the score tied at 9-9 early in the opening half, Stockton went on a six-point run to take the lead for good, aided by four points from junior guard Alex Nardoza (Fords, NJ/Woodbridge). By halftime, the Ospreys held a 34-18 advantage, with six players in the scoring column, led by Alwan, with nine points. Alwan also added seven rebounds in the opening 20 minutes.

Senior forward Cara Parliament (Manchester, NJ/Manchester Township) added eight first-half points for Stockton, while Nardoza added six.

For Rutgers-Camden, junior guard Alex Gravinese (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) scored nine first-half points on 3-for-6 shooting from three-point range.

Alwan shot 6-for-13 from the floor and 5-for-8 from the line on her way to 17 points, while grabbing 11 of her 13 rebounds off the defensive boards.

Nardoza finished with 15 points and a game-high six steals, while junior forward Sara Farrell (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) added 10.
Freshman guard Francesca Gervato (Toms River, NJ/Msgr. Donovan) added nine points and a team-high four assists for the Ospreys, while senior forward Cara Parliament (Manchester, NJ/Manchester Township) had eight rebounds and eight points.

Stockton out-rebounded Rutgers-Camden, 42-30, and shot 48 percent (24-for-50) from the floor and 67.9 percent (19-for-28) from the foul line. The Scarlet Raptors shot 19-for-58 (32.8) from the floor and only had nine attempts from the foul line, making five (55.6 percent).

Gravinese finished with 15 points, all on three-pointers, for the Scarlet Raptors, while sophomore guard Krystle Cook (Philadelphia, PA/Girard College) scored 13 and sophomore guard Falecia Galindez (Camden, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) added 11. Junior center/forward Tanjae Lewis (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) was a fourth Raptor in double figures with 10 points.

Sophomore forward Michelle Onu (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and Galindez led the team with six rebounds apiece, with Galindez notching her career high off the boards. Her previous high of four also came against Richard Stockton in the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 8.

Gravinese and Galindez tied Stockton's Gervato for the game high with four assists apiece, while Onu had three blocked shots to lead all players.

Both teams return to NJAC action with 1 p.m. games Saturday. Stockton hosts Ramapo College, while Rutgers-Camden travels to William Paterson University.
