STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Junior guard
Alex Gravinese (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) set a single-game program record by nailing eight three-pointers and the Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball team defeated the College of Staten Island, 78-60, in a non-conference makeup game here Monday night.
The game was originally scheduled for Dec. 10 but was postponed by snow.
The victory snapped the Scarlet Raptors' eight-game losing streak and lifted Rutgers-Camden to 5-18 on the season. The Dolphins fell to 18-6 with their second straight loss.
Gravinese shot 8-for-14 from three-point range on her way to a program record and a career-high 26 points. She passed the program mark of six that was shared by Morgan Kippley (Feb. 13, 2010 against Valley Forge Christian), Erin James (Feb. 2, 2002 against Montclair State), Maureen McGovern (Dec. 8, 1998 against Kean) and Megan Crank twice (Jan. 30, 1995 against Centenary and Jan. 21, 1995 against Rutgers-Newark).
Gravinese's 26 points passed her previous high of 20, set against William Paterson University on Jan. 18 of this season.
Overall, the sharp-shooting guard went 9-for-18 from the floor, added eight rebounds – one shy of her career high – and also tied her career high of six assists, which was set against The College of New Jersey on Dec. 7, 2013.
Gravinese went 4-for-7 from three-point range in each half, with her 14 first-half points helping to stake Rutgers-Camden to a 42-28 lead at the break.
Gravinese wasn't the only Scarlet Raptor with a hot hand. Sophomore guard
Falecia Galindez (Camden, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) also set a career scoring high, pouring in 23 points by tying the old program record of six treys. She shot 6-for-17 from three-point range while passing her old career high of 20 points, set against Kean University on Jan. 11, 2014.

Michelle Onu (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) both added 10 points for the Raptors, while junior guard/forward
Irene Grimanis (Brooklawn, NJ/Gloucester) collected a game-high 12 rebounds and tied Gravinese for game-high honors with six assists. Grimanis' six assists tied her career high, set against another CUNYAC school, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, on Jan. 20, 2014.
In addition to her 10 points, Onu blocked a game-high four shots.
Overall, Rutgers-Camden shot 29-for-65 (44.6 percent) from the floor, including 42.4 (14-for-33) from three-point range. The Raptors held the Dolphins to 19-for-73 shooting from the floor (26.0), including 5-for-30 (16.7) from three-point range.
