GALLOWAY, N.J. – Senior
Jeff Bash (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) posted his Rutgers-Camden 8K personal best and finished 16th of 109 in a time of 27:30.16 to lead the Scarlet Raptors' cross country team at the Osprey Open Saturday at Richard Stockton College.
The Rutgers-Camden men finished seventh out of 12 teams with 169 points. The College of New Jersey (20 points) won the race, led by individual winner Andrew Tedeschi (26:08.44.
The Scarlet Raptors saw four of their seven runners set their Rutgers-Camden personal best, with Bash joining freshmen
Richard Campolungo (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross), Colin Ward (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and
Brandon Sweeney (Bellmawr, NJ/Triton Regional). That trio of freshmen finished 57th, 70th and 83rd overall with personal best collegiate 8K clockings of 29:20.52, 30:31.09 and 31:41.55.
Sophomore
Marvin Sandoval (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) was the Raptors' No. 2 runner, finishing 28th overall in a time of 28:01.33. Sophomore
Leo Impagliazzo (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) was third on the team and 54th overall (29:10.12), while senior
Andrew Berger (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) finished 90th overall (32:33.56).
The Scarlet Raptors are idle next week. They return to action Oct. 4 in the Belmont Classic, which will begin at 11 a.m. at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park.
