CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 24, 2015) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team ran into an opponent on a roll here Saturday and the Ramapo College Roadrunners posted a 9-0 victory in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match.
The Scarlet Raptors fall to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in the NJAC, heading into Sunday's final match of the season, when they will host William Paterson University at 1 p.m. in a Senior Day matchup. In addition to honoring their one senior and all-time victory leader,
Amanda Hickman (Millville, NJ/Millville), that match will determine which team will finish fifth in the NJAC standings. The two teams are tied in the conference standings with 1-4 records.
Ramapo, meanwhile, closed its season with a 13-1 record and a 5-1 mark in the NJAC, second only to perennial conference champion The College of New Jersey. The Roadrunners ended their year with 10 consecutive victories, including the last six by 9-0 scores.
Hickman dropped her match at first singles, 6-3, 6-2, while sophomore
Angela Errigo (Shamong, NJ/Seneca) lost 6-1, 7-5 at second singles. The pair lost at first doubles, 8-4.
Junior
Christine Abacan (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) lost at third singles, 6-0, 6-3, and freshman
Ina San Buenaventura (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) was defeated at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1. The duo lost at second doubles, 8-0.
At third doubles, junior
Alexa Rocks (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and freshman
Bryana Foxx-Parham (Richmond, VA/Armstrong) lost, 8-0. Rocks and Foxx-Parham lost at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
