Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) collected a double-double of 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while adding a game-high five blocked shots, to lead the Richard Stockton College women's basketball team over Rutgers University-Camden, 76-59, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
Stockton, the NJAC co-leader along with Montclair State University, improves to 17-4 overall and 13-1 in the conference with its fifth straight win.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 8-13 overall and 4-10 in the conference.
Stockton has defeated Rutgers-Camden 25 straight times dating since March 2, 2002, and leads the all-time series, 55-18. The Ospreys posted a 73-60 victory over the Scarlet Raptors in Camden on Dec. 10 this season.
The Ospreys used a 12-point first-half run to turn a 13-6 deficit into an 18-13 lead. They led, 28-22, at the break and took their first double-digit lead three minutes into the second half, 36-26.
Rutgers-Camden whittled the margin to seven points on two occasions, the last at 41-34 on a free throw by freshman forward
Michelle Obasi (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic), but the Ospreys eventually built their lead to 22 points (73-51, the last of three 22-point margins) before settling for the 17-point win.
In addition to Williams, senior guard
Alex Nardoza (Fords, NJ/Woodbridge) scored 14 points for Stockton, while senior forward
Sara Farrell (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had a big game with 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Freshman guard
Lea Mendolla (Nutley, NJ/Mount St. Dominic) added 12 points for the Ospreys, who shot 28-for-54 (51.9) from the floor and 14-for-18 (77.8) from the foul line.
Stockton also held a 35-32 edge off the boards.
Junior guard
Kamari Talley (Camden, NJ/Creative Arts) scored a game-high 18 points for Rutgers-Camden and also tied for the team rebounding lead at seven with freshman guard
Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic). Racobaldo added 10 points, a game-high four steals and a team-high four assists.
Senior center
Tanjae Lewis (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) notched 13 points for the Raptors, while Obasi added 10.
Rutgers-Camden shot 23-for-56 (41.1) from the floor.
