Michelle Obasi (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) collected her fifth double-double of the season and became the 12th player in Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball history to reach the 1,000-point club as the Scarlet Raptors defeated Rutgers-Newark, 66-53, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday night
Rutgers-Camden improves to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC, snapping a two-game Newark winning streak in the all-time series. Newark, which leads the series, 37-28, falls to 5-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
The Scarlet Raptors led almost all the way, taking the lead for good early in the first quarter when a jumper by freshman guard
Jordan Harbaugh (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional) put them on top, 4-3. Harbaugh scored all 12 of her points in the first half as Rutgers-Camden took a 32-18 lead at the break, but the final points of the half came on a history-making jumper by Obasi. Needing four points to reach the 1,000-point plateau for her career, she hit a pair of jumpers late in the second quarter, including one with seven seconds remaining before the break for her 999th and 1,000th points. It marked the final points of the half.
Obasi finished with 10 points, hiking her career total to 1,006, and a game-high 12 rebounds. She also added two assists, tied for team-high honors with four steals and tied for game-high honors with two blocked shots.
Rutgers-Camden's balanced attack was led by sophomore guard
Fatimah Williams (Camden, NJ/Timber Creek), who scored 13 points. Harbaugh finished with 12, while a pair of juniors, guard
Gabby Greene (Howell, NJ/Howell) and guard/forward
Ariel Robinson (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic), added 11 points apiece. Robinson,
pictured above greeting Obasi during lineup introductions, also tied Obasi with a team-high four steals.

Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) tied for game-high honors with three assists apiece. For Racobaldo, the program's all-time assist leader, the total lifted her to 399, one shy of another significant career milestone for a Scarlet Raptor.
Rutgers-Newark received game-high totals of 15 points and six steals from sophomore guard

Comfort Akinbo (Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge) added 10 points.
Rutgers-Camden shot 26-for-55 (47.3 percent) from the floor, while Newark shot 17-for-55 (30.9). The Scarlet Raiders held a 40-37 edge off the boards, but also made one more turnover, 23-22.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Tuesday night, hosting Arcadia University in a 6 p.m. non-conference game.
