GLASSBORO, N.J. (Sept. 2, 2017) – After being shut out in their opening game of the season Friday night, the Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team returned with a vengeance Saturday on the final day of action at Rowan University's two-day Gilmore Classic.
The Scarlet Raptors rolled up a 5-1 halftime lead and went on to defeat Keystone College, 6-2. Rutgers-Camden, which lost 2-0 against Lycoming College Friday, is 1-1 heading into Tuesday's 7 p.m. game at Alvernia University.
Rutgers-Camden scored its first goal of the season 14:16 into the contest when senior
Clayton Taylor (Mendham, NJ/West Morris-Mendham) finished off a feed from junior
Vincenzo Masitti (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt). Over the next seven minutes, a swing of fortunes and misfortunes turned the tide of the game.
Keystone tied the game on a penalty kick at 19:54, following a Raptor foul in the box. The Giants barely had time to celebrate, however, when one of their players was ejected after receiving a red card at 21:10. Only 22 seconds later, a Keystone misplay resulted in an own goal, giving the Scarlet Raptors the lead for good.
Rutgers-Camden exploded for three goals in a four-minute span late in the first half to open up its huge halftime advantage. Freshman
Skyler Diggs (Delran, NJ/Delran) collected his first collegiate goal with 14:06 remaining in the half, assisted by senior

Diggs added a second goal midway through the second half, assisted by sophomore
Cristian Ognibene (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), a transfer from LaSalle University who earned his first Rutgers-Camden point.
Keystone closed out the scoring with a late goal.
Rutgers-Camden held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks during the first half and a 13-2 advantage in shots. The Scarlet Raptors finished with a 23-11 advantage in shots and a 10-4 margin in corner kicks.

James Brett (Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) earned the victory, allowing only the one penalty kick goal in 64:39 of playing time, while making the Raptors' lone save of the game. Freshman
