MSU women top Rutgers-Camden despite Harbaugh's career-high 20 points

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (Feb. 14, 2018) – Montclair State University senior guard/forward Katie Sire (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) poured in 31 points, while adding eight rebounds and five assists, to help the Red Hawks clinch the regular-season New Jersey Athletic Conference title with a 79-60 victory over Rutgers University-Camden here Wednesday night.
 
The Red Hawks, who received 27 votes toward the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and have been ranked as high as No. 21 nationally this year, close their regular-season schedule with a 21-3 record overall and a 16-2 NJAC mark. They will be the top seed in the upcoming conference playoffs, earning a first-round bye Saturday and hosting a semifinal game on Tuesday.
 
The Scarlet Raptors earned the NJAC's sixth playoff seed and will travel to No. 3 seed Stockton University for a first-round game on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Raptors closed the regular season with a 14-10 record overall and an 11-7 mark in the NJAC.

Montclair State, a perennial NJAC and national power, has won 24 straight against Rutgers-Camden and owns a 44-15 lead in the all-time series.
 
Sire had seven points at halftime to help the Red Hawks build a 39-23 halftime lead. She collected 24 points in the second half and finished the night shooting 11-for-16 from the field, including 1-for-1 from three-point range. She went 8-for-9 from the foul line.
 
Senior guard Kate Tobie (Elizabeth, NJ/Roselle Catholic) added a game-high 11 assists for Montclair State, while adding seven points, six rebounds and three steals. Senior forward Taylor Harmon (Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) collected 20 points for the Red Hawks, who shot 30-for-57 (52.6 percent) from the field and held a 35-27 advantage off the boards.
 
Freshman guard Jordan Harbaugh (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional) notched a career-high 20 points for the Scarlet Raptors, while adding four rebounds. Harbaugh shot 6-for-9 from the field, including 5-for-8 from three-point range, and went 3-for-4 from the foul line. Harbaugh, pictured above, passed her previous career high of 13 points, accomplished three times, including on Jan. 10 when the Raptors played the Red Hawks in Camden.
 
Rutgers-Camden senior forward/center Michelle Obasi (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) collected 13 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots, while senior guard/forward Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) had 11 points and team-high totals of eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals. The three steals gave Racobaldo 301 for her career, making her only the third player in program history to pass the 300 milestone. Her assists, meanwhile, raised her program career mark to 495 and gave her 143 for the season, tying her previous season best from 2015-16. That mark is the third-highest single-season assist total in program history.
 
Sophomore guard Lajerah Wright (Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City) added eight points for the Raptors, while junior guard Gabby Greene (Howell, NJ/Howell) dished off five assists and added five points and a career-high two blocked shots.
