CAMDEN, N.J. (Feb. 8, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball team had to wait an extra day to celebrate Senior Night and to pursue its quest of a potential first-
Senior Michelle Obasi raised her career scoring output to 1,148 points
round home game in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs.
The Scarlet Raptors made their wait worthwhile as they opened up a tight game with a 15-5 third-quarter run on their way to a 58-51 victory over Ramapo College.
With its sixth straight win, Rutgers-Camden raised its record to 14-8 overall and 11-5 in the NJAC as it remained locked in a tie with Stockton University for third place in the conference. The third and fourth seeds in the six-team NJAC tourney will get a first-round home game when the post-season action begins Feb. 17.
Ramapo fell to 6-17 overall and 3-13 in the NJAC. Rutgers-Camden leads the all-time series, 38-22, and has won seven of its last eight games against Ramapo.
The game was postponed from Wednesday due to a storm that forced the cancelation of all classes at Ramapo College. Prior to the contest, the Scarlet Raptors celebrated Senior Night, where they honored tri-captains
Michelle McCarthy (Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), Michelle Obasi (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) and
Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic). Obasi and Racobaldo are wrapping up their record-setting four-year Rutgers-Camden careers, while McCarthy has contributed to the Scarlet Raptors for two seasons after transferring from Rowan College at Gloucester County.

Rutgers-Camden scored the first eight points of the game and held a 17-10 lead after one quarter, but Ramapo rallied in the second quarter to tie the game, 27-27, on a jumper by sophomore center
Jessica Repasy (Fredon, NJ/Kittatinny) late in the opening half. Rutgers-Camden regained the halftime lead, 29-27, on a steal and layup by freshman guard

At halftime, the Scarlet Raptors' balanced attack included six points apiece from Obasi, junior guard
Gabby Greene (Howell, NJ/Howell) and freshman guard
Jordan Harbaugh (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional). Ramapo received seven first-half points from senior guard
Bridgette Buckalew (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) and six from Repasy.
Rutgers-Camden opened up the game in the third quarter, sparked by an early three-pointer from Harbaugh, who ended up tying her career high by netting a game-high 13 points. It was the third 13-point game or her rookie season. Harbaugh's trey sparked the Scarlet Raptors on a nine-point run in which she scored five points and Obasi added four, giving Rutgers-Camden a 38-27 lead.
Rutgers-Camden built its lead to as many as 14 points (42-28 and 44-30) in the third quarter before Ramapo whittled the margin down to five on several occasions late in the fourth quarter. Each time the Scarlet Raptors answered with either a field goal or some key foul shots.
In addition to Harbaugh's fine night, Obasi finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists and a whopping eight blocked shots, doubling her previous career high and hiking her career total to 96 blocks. Greene finished with 11 points, aided by two treys that hiked her program career record to 200.

Racobaldo notched eight rebounds and game-high totals of eight assists and five steals, while freshman guard
Shane Holmes (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) collected nine points and sophomore guard
Lajerah Wright (Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City) added six.
Ramapo received 10 points apiece form Repasy, sophomore forward
Jenna Harsh (Metuchen, NJ/Bishop Ahr) and sophomore center
Alie Wickersheim (Maywood, NJ/Hackensack). Harsh also added 10 rebounds to complete a double-double. Her teammate, junior center
Tia Solomon (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) collected a game-high 11 boards.
Wickersheim nearly had a double-double by finishing with nine rebounds, while Repasy added eight boards.
Rutgers-Camden shot 20-for-57 (35.1 percent) from the field and Ramapo shot 19-for-55 (34.5). The Roadrunners held a 47-32 advantage off the boards but also made 12 more turnovers (22-10) than the Scarlet Raptors.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday with a 3 p.m. NJAC game at William Paterson University. The Scarlet Raptors close out the regular season Wednesday night at NJAC-leading Montclair State University.
