Scarlet Raptors fall to Rowan in NJAC play

Glassboro, NJ (April 24, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's lacrosse team did not have enough firepower in them this afternoon, falling to Rowan by a final score of 20-3.
                                                                                                                                                      
Rutgers-Camden drops their record on the season to 2-10 (0-5 NJAC), while Rowan jumps to 12-2 (5-1 NJAC).
 
The Profs got out of the gates quickly, firing home 4 goals in the opening 7 minutes of the first half. After the 4th Rowan goal, junior midfielder Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ, Camden Catholic) quickly fired home her 14th goal of the season. Her goal was the lone Scarlet Raptor goal in the opening stanza.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Brittany Watson (Millville, NJ, Millville) stopped 6 shots in the first half of play. She made 2 saves against the Profs' attack in the second half, while adding 2 ground balls in the loss.
 
The second half saw Rutgers-Camden hold Rowan to just 6 goals in 30 minutes, but it was not enough to garner a victory. The Scarlet Raptors scored the lone 2 goals of the game in the final 12 minutes of play, one from senior midfielder Nicole Martin (Delran, NJ, Delran) and the final from Racobaldo. Both tallies were unassisted.
 
Senior defender Megan Everett (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) and sophomore midfielder Meghan Giordano (Pennsauken, NJ, Camden Catholic) led the Scarlet Raptors in ground balls on the day as they both collected 3. Martin and sophomore defender Kacie Walton (Columbus, NJ, Northern Burlington) both led in caused turnovers for Rutgers-Camden with 2. Racobaldo collected a team-high 3 draw controls.
 
Rutgers-Camden will entertain Ramapo in their final game of the season on Saturday, April 28 at 1pm. The Scarlet Raptors will celebrate Senior Day, honoring their 7 graduating seniors: Natalie DiCarlo (Sicklerville, NJ, Gloucester Catholic), Nicole Curry (Maple Shade, NJ, Camden Catholic), Megan Everett (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee), Sarah Boucot (Sicklerville, NJ, Paul VI), Jessica Mayer (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson), Nicole Martin (Delran, NJ, Delran), and Tiffany Hoffman (Maple Shade, NJ, Maple Shade).
