CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 16, 2018) – After playing only three matches over the first two weeks of the season, the Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team won its second match of the weekend here Sunday as it defeated Goucher College, 6-3.

The win, coupled with Saturday's 9-0 sweep at Cedar Crest College, lifts the Scarlet Raptors to 3-1 this season. Goucher, opening its season, falls to 0-1.

Rutgers-Camden swept all three doubles matches, but it wasn't easy as junior

LeAnne Hall battled from a 6-1 deficit in the top doubles spot to pull off an 8-7 (7-2) comeback victory. At second doubles, junior captain

Tiffany Trivers posted an 8-3 win, while the third doubles team of freshmen
Morgan Dempsey and
Hannah Cohan outlasted their Goucher opponents, 8-7 (7-4).

The singles competition was tight too, as Hawn won a close 7-6 (10-8), 6-2 decision at first singles before Lemma dropped a 1-6, 1-6 match at second singles. Both Trivers and Hall rallied from a set down to take victories at third and fourth singles, respectively. Trivers won, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 and Hall captured a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 marathon.

At fifth singles, Dempsey lost in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 4-6, while Cohan was defeated at sixth singles, losing 2-6, 5-7.

The Scarlet Raptors will send a few players to the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships next weekend in Geneva, New York.
