CENTER VALLEY, Penn. (Sept. 4, 2021) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team had an impressive performance over the weekend at the DeSales University Tournament, winning its first two marathon matches before dropping its third match.
The Raptors, who went to five sets on Friday night before defeating the host team, won a close 3-1 match against Washington College here Saturday before being swept by New York University to drop their record to 2-1.
The Scarlet Raptors play a non-conference match Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Penn State-Abington.
Rutgers-Camden 3, Washington College 1
In their opening match of the day, the Scarlet Raptors defeated Washington College by scores of 25-23, 25-13, 22-25 and 29-27.
Sophomore
Kaliyah Moss led the way with 19 kills and a .457 hitting percentage, while adding 17 digs for a double-double. Moss made only three errors in 35 total attacks, while also adding four blocks (one solo, three assisted), three assists and one service ace.

Isabella Choice and
Dyamond Free both added eight kills, while sophomore
Erica Nebrich notched seven kills.
Senior
Brinn Hassan directed the Scarlet Raptors' attack with 40 assists, hiking her career total to 1,130. She also added four aces to move into 10th place on the program's career list with 110. She passed Sydney Allen, who had 108 aces from 2012-15.
Senior
Devyn Cobb added five kills and three blocks (one solo, two assisted) to jump into 12th place on the career list for blocks. She passed Tanesha Williams, who had 84 blocks from 2001-02.
Senior
Morgan Fox notched nine digs and two service aces, while both Nebrich and Hassan added seven digs.
New York University 3, Rutgers-Camden 0
The Scarlet Raptors suffered their first loss as NYU posted set wins of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-17.
Moss and Choice paced the team with six kills, respectively, with Choice compiling a .400 hitting percentage (six kills and two errors in 10 total attacks). Choice also added three blocks, including one solo block. Cobb had two blocks – one solo and one assisted, while also notching five kills.
Hassan led the team with 19 assists and two service aces, while Fox had a Raptor high of 12 digs.
