CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 13, 2022) – The Rowan University volleyball team entered the campaign as the pre-season favorite in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
The Profs looked the part here Tuesday night as they swept Rutgers University-Camden, 3-0, in the NJAC season opener for both teams. Rowan won by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-10.
Rowan improves to 8-0 overall on the season, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 1-4.
In the opening set, Rowan scored the final four points after the two teams were deadlocked at 21-21. The final run included a Raptor service error, an ace by Rowan sophomore outside hitter Maya Iovacchini, a Raptor attack error and the set-clinching kill by the Profs' sophomore middle hitter Isabel Kirchner.
Rowan rattled off four straight points in the second set after the teams were tied at 8-8, taking the lead for good on the way to a 25-20 victory. Senior outside hitter Natalie Ogden clinched the set with a kill.
The Profs scored the first five points of the decisive third set on the way to their win.
Ogden had 11 kills and seven digs for Rowan, while sophomore Brooke Adams notched 32 assists and senior Simone Sparano had nine digs.
Rutgers-Camden received seven kills from junior outside hitter

Morgan Fox had nine digs and two aces.

Rutgers-Camden returns to action Thursday when it hosts Swarthmore College at 7 p.m.
