PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – Rutgers University-Camden sophomore
Millie Kipp (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and senior
Jeff Bash (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) turned in strong races to lead the Scarlet Raptors at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial Cross Country Championship here Saturday at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park.
Kipp finished 10th of 141 women overall in the 6K race, posting a time of 24:57. Margaret Diacont of the Greater Philadelphia Track Club won the race in a time of 23:01.
On the men's side, Bash finished 16th out of 136 in the 8K race, clocking a 28:29 time. Eric Lacy of Philadelphia University won the race in 27:12.
The Rutgers-Camden men finished fifth of 15 teams with 152 points in the race won by Philadelphia University (50). The Scarlet Raptor women placed 12th of 16 with 284 points. St. Thomas Aquinas won the race with 52 points.
All seven Rutgers-Camden men finished among the top 90 runners, including four in the top 40. Sophomore
Marvin Sandoval (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) was 19th overall in 28:40, while sophomore
Leo Impagliazzo (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) finished 34th (30:14) and freshman
Richard Campolungo (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross) was 40th (30:23).
Freshman
Brandon Sweeney (Bellmawr, NJ/Triton Regional) finished 61st (31:57), freshman
Colin Ward (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) was 72nd (32:30) and senior
Andrew Berger (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) was 90th (33:46).
In addition to Kipp, the women's team saw freshman
Brianna Dugan (Deptford, NJ/Deptford) finish 42nd overall (26:20) and freshman
Emily Daiutolo (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) place 71st (28:07). Sophomore
Kelly Donegan (Stratford, NJ/Sterling) finished 116th (33:37), sophomore
Melanie Derham (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional) was 124th (34:49) and freshman
Brittany Thompson (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) was 93rd, running her personal best 6K time of 35:54.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Nov. 1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held at Richard Stockton College.
