ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rutgers University-Camden women's team finished 30th of 45 programs and the men placed 33rd of 45 teams as the Scarlet Raptors competed in the NCAA Atlantic Cross Country Regional, held here Saturday at Genesee Valley Park.
The women scored 935 points in the 6k race, while the men notched 902 points. St. Lawrence University swept both the men's (63 points) and the women's race (50). The individual winners were Matt Giannino from RIT (25:08.7) and Amy Regan from Stevens Institute (21:05.8).
Sophomore
Millie Kipp (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) led the Rutgers-Camden women, finishing 129th overall (24:23.1) in the 272-woman race. Freshman
Brianna Dugan (Deptford, NJ/Deptford) placed 166th (25:02.0), while junior
Tori Gerstenacker (Howell, NJ/Howell) finished 192nd (25:55.9).
Freshman
Emily Daiutolo (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) finished fourth on the team and 202nd overall (26:24.6), followed by freshman
Brittany Thompson (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) in 267th place and sophomore
Melanie Derham (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional) one back of Thompson in 268th place. Thompson posted a time of 32:20.2, while Derham had a 33:05.6 clocking.
On the men's side, senior
Jeff Bash (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) finished 92nd out of 285 runners in a time of 26:56.7, while sophomore
Marvin Sandoval (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) placed 179th (28:32.8) and freshman
Richard Campolungo (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross) was 192nd (28:48.3).
Sophomore
Leo Impagliazzo (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) finished 196th (28:56.9), freshman
Colin Ward (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) placed 258th (30.53.6), senior
Andrew Berger (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) was 276th (32:36.7) and freshman
Brandon Sweeney (Bellmawr, NJ/Triton Regional) finished 281st (33:01.6).
A total of seven Scarlet Raptors established personal bests at their distances, including Thompson (by 1:24), Daiutolo (0:47), Dugan (0:38) and Gerstenacker (0:15) on the women's side and Campolungo (0:32), Bash (0:13) and Impagliazzo (0:06) on the men's side.
