Box Score

MAHWAH, N.J. – Rutgers University-Camden guards Kamari Talley (Camden, NJ/Creative Arts) and Alex Gravinese (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) scored 10 and nine points, respectively, in an early 19-point run to help the Scarlet Raptors race past Ramapo College, 76-57, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday afternoon.

The victory was the second straight NJAC win for the Raptors, who snapped a 30-game conference losing streak Wednesday night against New Jersey City University. Rutgers-Camden has won two straight NJAC games for the first time since the 2011-12 season, when it beat Rutgers-Newark 58-49 on Dec. 3 and NJCU 53-37 on Jan. 7.

The Scarlet Raptors, who improve to 6-10 overall and 2-7 in the NJAC, also snapped a five-game losing streak against the Roadrunners and increased their all-time series lead to 32-21 over Ramapo. Rutgers-Camden hadn't defeated Ramapo since a 49-46 decision in Camden on Jan. 15, 2011, which snapped a 32-game NJAC losing streak at that time.

Ramapo falls to 4-11 overall and 0-9 in the NJAC with its sixth straight loss.

After the Roadrunners took a 2-0 lead 30 seconds into the game, the Scarlet Raptors held them scoreless for the next 9:40, while rolling off 19 straight points. A three-pointer by Gravinese gave the Raptors the lead for good, 3-2, and she went on to hit three treys on the run, while Talley added five field goals to score 10 points. Ramapo finally broke the run at 9:50 on a layup by senior guard Kerrie Kosakowski (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne), making it a 19-4 game.

By halftime, the Raptors held a 40-20 lead and had led by as many as 22 points (30-8 and 34-12). Talley had 16 points at the break, while Gravinese had 10 points and four steals. Freshman guard Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic), meanwhile, had eight points, six assists and four steals at halftime.

Junior center Grace Elliott (Detroit, MI/Detroit Country Day School) had six of the Roadrunners 20 points at halftime.

Talley finished with her Rutgers-Camden career-high 26 points, passing the 17 she had in her first game as a Raptor against Elmira College on Dec. 30. Gravinese notched 17 points, including 4-for-7 shooting from three-point range, and added a career-high six steals.

Racobaldo, meanwhile, had the finest game of her young career, setting personal highs with 18 points, eight assists and nine steals. She also added nine rebounds as she barely missed a quadruple-double. Her previous highs were 15 points (against NJCU Jan. 14), six assists (accomplished three times) and seven steals (Yeshiva, Dec. 14).

Sophomore guard Julia Gober (Turnersville, NJ/Washington Township) also set a career high with five points, passing the four that she scored on two occasions.

Elliott scored 17 points to pace Ramapo, which committed 35 turnovers.

The Scarlet Raptors return to action Wednesday with a 6 p.m. NJAC game at The College of New Jersey.
