Box Score CAMDEN, N.J. – The Rutgers University-Newark women's basketball team opened the second half with a 20-4 run, wiping out a two-point halftime deficit, and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 66-44, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
Rutgers-Newark improves to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the NJAC with its fifth consecutive victory over its sister school. The Scarlet Raiders lead the all-time series, 34-25.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 4-9 overall and 0-6 in the NJAC.

Alex Gravinese (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) and junior guard
Kamari Talley (Camden Creative Arts), the Scarlet Raptors quickly increased their lead after the break on a layup by senior forward
Irene Grimanis (Brooklawn, NJ/Gloucester) before the tide quickly turned. The Scarlet Raiders ran off the next eight points, including four by sophomore guard
Maria Simmons (Irvington, NJ/Irvington) to take the lead for good.

Jade Howard (Sicklerville, NJ/St. Joseph's-Hammonton) poured in a game-high 28 points and completed a double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds. Howard, who had 17 points in the opening half, shot 11-for-17 from the floor and 6-for-9 from the foul line.

Newark held a 40-34 advantage off the boards and shot 27-for-57 (47.4) from the floor to the Scarlet Raptors' 12-for-43 (27.9).
Gravinese finished with 14 points to lead the Scarlet Raptors, while Talley added 12 points and nine rebounds. Grimanis chipped in with eight boards.
Both teams return to action with NJAC games Saturday. The Scarlet Raptors visit Montclair State University for a 1 p.m. game, while the Scarlet Raiders host William Paterson University at 6 p.m.
