Faith Ashby (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) scored 21 points and senior guard
Shala Glenn (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) added 19 to lead the Rutgers University-Newark women's basketball team over Rutgers University-Camden, 62-53, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday night.
The victory enabled Newark to sweep the home-and-home season series and increase its lead in the all-time series to 37-27. The Scarlet Raiders, who snapped a two-game losing streak, improve to 7-13 overall and 5-8 in the NJAC. The Scarlet Raptors fall to 12-7 overall and 6-6 in the NJAC, snapping a three-game winning streak.
With Camden leading, 10-6, Newark went on an 11-point run, with Glenn scoring four of them. After a pair of foul shots by Raptor junior guard
Jovan Childers (Bridgeton, NJ/Bridgeton), Glenn closed out the first quarter with a jumper to give Newark a 19-12 lead.
By halftime, the Scarlet Raiders owned a 35-24 lead, with Glenn scoring 11 and Ashby adding seven. Rutgers-Camden's halftime scoring leader was senior center

By the end of the third quarter, the Scarlet Raiders had increased their lead to 46-34. The Scarlet Raptors cut the gap to six points a couple of times in the fourth quarter, the last coming at 51-45, but Ashby hit a huge three-pointer with 4:04 remaining to make it a 54-45 game. The closest the Raptors came the rest of the way was a 56-48 deficit.
In addition to the combined 40 points from Ashby and Glenn, the Scarlet Raiders received a game-high 12 rebounds from senior guard

Santiago notched her second double-double of the season for the Scarlet Raptors, finishing with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Childers led the Raptors in scoring with 16 points and added eight rebounds, while sophomore guard
Gabby Greene (Howell, NJ/Howell) scored 12 points. Greene shot 4-for-8 from three-point range, one game after a blistering 11-for-15 shooting on three-point attempts that led to a career-high 33 points at Rowan University Wednesday.
Junior forward/center
Michelle Obasi (Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Scarlet Raptors. The seven boards allowed her to pass Imani Hafiz (2004-08) by one rebound and move into 10th place on the program's career list with 522.
Rutgers-Camden shot only 33.3 percent (21-for-63) from the floor, while Rutgers-Newark didn't fare much better, shooting 36.7 percent (22-for-60). The Scarlet Raiders held a 43-39 edge off the boards and forced 17 Scarlet Raptor turnovers. Newark also shot 11-for-15 (73.3) from the foul line.
Rutgers-Camden returns to NJAC action Monday night when it hosts Kean University in a 7 p.m. makeup game.
