CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 14, 2017) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team didn't drop a set as it swept past Cedar Crest College, 9-0, here Saturday in a non-conference match.
It was the second straight victory for the Scarlet Raptors, who raised their record to 3-4. The two-match winning streak is the longest for the Raptors since another two-game streak on Oct. 17 and 19, 2013.
Cedar Crest closes its short fall season with a 1-3 record.
Sophomore co-captains
Annalise Kipp (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and
Danielle Lemma (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) posted an 8-3 victory at first doubles for their seventh career doubles victory as a team. They are 3-4 this season at the top doubles spot.
At second doubles, the Scarlet Raptors received an 8-1 win from the freshman duo of
Jenna O'Lexy (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) and
Anna Archut (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township). Rutgers-Camden received an 8-2 win at third doubles from sophomore
Trinh Nguyen (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) and freshman
Abby Banner (Egg Harbor City, NJ/Cedar Creek).
Kipp won her match at first singles, 6-2, 6-0, as she raised her singles record to 4-3 at the top spot this season. O'Lexy earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at second singles, while Lemma,
pictured above, captured a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the third flight.
Freshman
Lexi Sample (Newfield, NJ/Delsea Regional) earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles, while Banner posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the fifth singles spot and Archut earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at sixth singles.
Banner and Lemma both own 5-2 records in singles this season.
Rutgers-Camden plays a 12 p.m. match at the College of Staten Island Sunday.
