GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 1, 2017) –With Friday's schedule at the Stockton Invitational rained out, the Rutgers University-Camden track team was forced to concentrate all of its brilliant performances into one day here on Saturday.
The Scarlet Raptors did exactly that, receiving strong performances up and down its roster as it competed at the Stockton Invitational.
Sophomore
Cameron Dobbins (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) won the 12-man competition in the 100-meter dash, posting an 11.40 clocking.
Matt Gross finished third out of 14 competitors in the javelin
On the women's side, junior
Alisha Singleton (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) finished second out of 14 in the 100-meter dash (13.46) and was sixth of 17 at 200 meters (27.85). Freshman
Kyleigh Stevenson (Carneys Point, NJ/Penns Grove) was second of 12 in the javelin with a throw of 35.37 meters, barely missing the ECAC qualifier of 35.48 meters. Stevenson also finished 12th of 15 in the shot put (8.33 meters).
The men saw freshman
Matt Gross (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) place third out of 14 competitors with a javelin throw of 51.76 meters.
Junior
Eric Gilchrist Jr. (New Castle, DE/Christiana) finished sixth of 22 in the 200-meter dash (23.95) and 11th of 21 at 400 meters (55.07), while freshman
Alfred Banks Jr. (Camden, NJ/Camden) finished eighth of 22 in the 200-meter dash (24.17).
In longer distances, freshman
Olivia Rocks (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) finished fifth of 15 women at 800 meters (2:44.73) and seventh of 18 at 1,500 meters (5:36.81), while senior
Millie Hample (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) was eighth at 1,500 meters (5:41.11).
Among the men, junior
Richard Campolungo (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross) finished eighth of 15 at 800 meter (2:13.54) and also was 14th of 19 at 1,500 meters (4:38.55).
In the field events, sophomore
Drew Harper (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) continued to excel at three events, finishing fifth of 13 in the discus (32.67 meters), sixth of 17 in the shot put (11.76 meters) and fifth of nine in the hammer (38.13 meters). Junior
Paul Lindsay (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) was ninth in the shot put (11.49 meters).
The women's competition saw freshman
Nicole DeMarco (Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) place sixth of 15 in the shot put (9.72 meters) and seventh of 12 in the javelin (28.50), while junior
Jessica Dybus (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was sixth of 15 in the discus (28.91 meters) and 11th of 15 in the shot put (8.39 meters).
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday, April 8, when it travels to Rowan University for the Oscar Moore Open.
