CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 16, 2017) – The Ramapo College women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and won four of the six singles matches as it defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 7-2, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match here Saturday.
The Roadrunners improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 1-2 and 1-2. Ramapo owns a 7-0 lead in the all-time series.
Rutgers-Camden received singles victories from sophomore co-captains
Annalise Kipp (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and
Danielle Lemma (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township). Kipp won at first singles, 6-1, 5-7 (10-4) and Lemma earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory at third singles. The duo also combined for a narrow 9-7 loss at first doubles.
The Scarlet Raptors' second, fourth, fifth and sixth singles matches featured a quartet of freshmen.
Jenna O'Lexy (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at second singles and
Lexi Sample (Newfield/Delsea Regional) fell, 6-1, 6-1, at fourth singles.
Abby Banner (Egg Harbor City, NJ/Cedar Creek) lost at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-2, and
Anna Archut (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) played at sixth singles, losing a tight 7-5, 6-3 decision.
O'Lexy and Archut dropped an 8-2 decision at second doubles and Sample and Banner combined at third doubles, dropping an 8-0 decision.
Rutgers-Camden will play a 1 p.m. non-conference match Sunday when it hosts Gwynedd Mercy University.
