CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 23, 2021) – Sophomore
Kaliyah Moss collected her fifth double-double of the season and the Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team ended Drew University's seven-match winning streak as it defeated the Rangers, 3-1, in a non-conference match here Thursday.
Rutgers-Camden won the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-16, before Drew took the third set, 25-14. The Scarlet Raptors wrapped up the win with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set, hiking their record to 8-4.
Drew, competing in its first season of intercollegiate volleyball, falls to 9-2.
Moss notched five kills in the opening set and finished the night with 15 kills and 14 digs, while adding two assists and two assisted blocks.
Two other Scarlet Raptor sophomores cracked double figures in kills as
Dyamond Free drilled 12 kills and
Erica Nebrich notched 11 kills. Senior
Devyn Cobb delivered six kills as Rutgers-Camden produced 48 kills as a team.
A pair of seniors directed the attack as
Kayla Benesz and
Brinn Hassan collected 21 and 19 assists, respectively. Senior libero
Morgan Fox notched a team-high 19 digs, while senior defensive specialist
Haley Novak collected 13 digs.
Sophomore
Isabella Choice had two kills, four digs and two assisted blocks. She also joined Fox, Benesz and senior
Savannah Hayes with two service aces apiece.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Tuesday with a 7 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference match at Ramapo College.
