CENTER VALLEY, Penn. (Sept. 3, 2021) – Senior setter
Brinn Hassan collected a double-double of 34 assists and 10 digs and the Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team opened its season with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over DeSales University Friday night at the DeSales University Tournament.
Rutgers-Camden won by scores of 19-25, 28-26, 20-25, 25-21 and 15-9 to hand DeSales (1-1) its first loss of the season.
The Scarlet Raptors received 11 kills from sophomore
Dyamond Free, while sophomore
Erica Nebrich added 10 kills and four aces. Sophomore
Kaliyah Moss, making her first appearance in a Rutgers-Camden uniform, notched 12 digs, seven kills and five assisted blocks.
Senior libero
Morgan Fox notched 22 digs to hike her career mark to 749, leaping over two players into seventh place on the program's career list. She passed both Erin Thompson (734) and Stephanie Miller (740).
Senior
Devyn Cobb collected six kills and four blocks, while senior
Delaney Kolb had eight digs and three aces. Sophomore
Isabella Choice produced seven kills and three aces.
Hassan's 34 assists hiked her career total to 1,090. She is third on the program's all-time list.
The Scarlet Raptors continue their action on Saturday at the DeSales University Tournament. Rutgers-Camden plays Washington College at 12 p.m. and New York University at 2 p.m.
