Nicole Martin (Delran, NJ, Delran) recorded 7 goals between one another, but it was not enough to fend off a strong attack from Manhattanville College, as the Rutgers University-Camden women's lacrosse team fell to the Valiants here on Saturday, 13-11.
Three different lead changes in the opening 15 minutes of play created a back and forth, action-packed opening half, as
Ennis and
Martin recorded 2 early goals apiece for the Scarlet Raptors, before the Valiants tied the game at 2-2.
Ennis added her second goal on an assist from sophomore midfielder
Taylor Reader (Maple Shade, NJ, Maple Shade), before Manhattanville scored 4 straight in a span of 7 minutes on goals from
Carly Weiss,
Kat Reilly, and
Sarah Dalsey. The Scarlet Raptors would not catch Manhattanville from that point in the game.
Martin added her second goal, and sophomore midfielder
Brianna Manko (Stratford, NJ, Sterling) scored back-to-back goals for the Scarlet Raptors before the horn blew for halftime, with the Valiants leading 8-6.
Both teams scored 5 goals apiece in the second half, but the Scarlet Raptors could not catch Manhattanville as the game ended in favor of the Valiants, 13-11. Senior defender

Megan Everett (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) each recorded 5 ground balls, while
Everett also logged 2 caused turnovers and 1 draw control.
Ennis and
Heifet notched 4 and 3 draw controls, respectively.
Reader had a game high 3 assists for the Scarlet Raptors, while sophomore midfielder
Jessica Mayer (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson) rounded out the scoring for Rutgers-Camden.
Freshman goalkeeper
Caitlyn Snyder (Somerdale, NJ, Sterling) turned away 9 shots by the Valiants attack, as her record on the season dropped to 3-4.
The game was evenly played by both sides, with the two teams both taking 29 shots on the day. Manhattanville led 17-9 in draw controls.
Rutgers-Camden opens up New Jersey Athletic Conference play with a 1 p.m. contest at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, on Saturday.
