MAHWAH, New Jersey (April 22, 2017) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's lacrosse team dropped a hard fought road game to the Ramapo College Roadrunners in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up by a final score of 11-10. Rutgers-Camden record is now 4-9 (0-4 NJAC) on the season, and Ramapo improves to 6-8 (1-4 NJAC).
Junior midfielder
Nicole Martin (Delran, NJ, Delran) posted a team-high 4 goals on the day, while sophomore midfielder
Kaitlyn Ennis (Columbus, NJ, Northern Burlington), sophomore midfielder
Jessica Mayer (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson), and freshman attack
Jennie Klanchar (Mullica Hill, NJ, Clearview Regional) all provided 2 goals each.
Ennis,
Mayer, and
Klanchar all provided 1 assist on the day as well.
Ramapo captured their first win in the NJAC, as
Alyssa Tachon scored four goals to lead the Roadrunners to their one-goal victory.
Back and forth action from both teams saw the game tied at 3-3 with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half, as
Mayer,
Klanchar and
Martin all scored in that opening span on the game. Ramapo jumped back on top 4-3 with just under 8 minutes to play, before goals from
Ennis and
Martin gave the Scarlet Raptors the lead 5-4 at halftime.
The Scarlet Raptors would keep their lead in the game until the 12:32 mark in the second half, when Ramapo tied the game at 7-7.
Ennis and
Mayer provided the early goals for Rutgers-Camden to establish the lead, but Ramapo responded with 6 straight goals in a span of 12 minutes to put the game just out of reach. A persistent comeback from the Scarlet Raptors saw goals fly in from
Martin and
Klanchar, but the 3 goals between the 2 was not enough to close the gap, as time expired with a score line of 11-10 in favor of Ramapo.
Rutgers Camden led in shots (25-23) and ground balls (15-14) on the day, as Ramapo led in draw controls (13-10). Junior defender
Megan Everett (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) led the team in ground balls with 4, and freshman defender
Kacie Walton (Columbus, NJ, Northern Burlington) added 3.

Victoria Heifet (Cherry Hill, NJ, Cherry Hill West) contributed a major part in caused turnovers for the Scarlet Raptors, as they both posted 5 on the day.

Caitlyn Snyder (Somerdale, NJ, Sterling) made 7 saves on the afternoon, while Roadrunner goalkeeper
Monica Bubello made 12. Snyder's record in the cage on the season drops to 4-9.

th, when they host Rowan University at 4pm.
